Makeni Islamic Society Trust

Established in 1978, the Nursery and Primary School marked the beginning of MIST’s journey in education, followed by the opening of the Secondary School in 1989. These schools have since become pillars of educational excellence, deeply rooted in the community they serve.

– The Nursery is registered under the Nurseries Act 313, and both the Primary and Secondary Schools are recognized by the Ministry of Education, ensuring adherence to national standards while maintaining the unique identity of the institution.

– MIST Schools currently serve 950 students, with 90% of them on bursary. This financial support is more than just assistance; it is a lifeline for families from satellite communities where economic challenges are the norm, and formal employment is a rarity.

– The teaching staff at MIST Schools are not only qualified but are also driven by a passion for education and a commitment to nurturing young minds. Registered with the Teaching Council of Zambia (TCZ), they deliver the national curriculum with an enriching blend of Islamic studies, encompassing Deen Knowledge, Quran, and Arabic Language.

– Over the past decade, MIST Schools have consistently achieved near-perfect pass rates, a testament to their unwavering commitment to academic excellence and holistic development.
